Post by fordguy67 »

I recently bought a 67 F100 and the brakes worked fine when I drove it home. Adjusted brakes a now it wont stop, pedal is to the floor. Have checked lines, bled brakes and master, could my power booster be bad? Need help ANy ideas? Thank you,

Could you have adjusted them the wrong way?
You should hear /feel the brakes drag on the drum slighty.
I don't think it's the booster.

so you adjusted the shoe out towards the drum to make them closer to the drum to stop better right? if so the shoes or drums may have been worn far enough down that it let the wheel cylinder leak because they went too far out fo the bores. so you lost fluid the power booster will hiss when you push on the brakes if it is bad and will be a little stiff if it went bad. i would say that is not the problem. it could be worn brake shoes or drums. or it go tair in the system some how.

Yes, I adjusted them towards the drum. I don't hear a hissing sound when I press the brakes and the pedal is extremely loose so maybe it isn't the booster. I guess I'll check the shoes to make sure they are still good and try to purge the air out of the system in case that's the problem. Thanks guys.
