OK, I just bought a 71 F-100 with a 3 on the tree, manual steering.
I have a 1970 F-100 auto with power steering.
Can I take the power steering set up, pump and gear, off and put it on the 71?
Thanks

The power steering box will bolt right up. As long as both trucks have the same engine, you can swap the power steering pump.
However, since the power steering box is several inches longer than a manual steering box, your existing 3-spd steering column won't work. You'll have to either find a power steering column for a 3-spd setup (very hard to find) or just use the power steering column from the donor truck and add a floor shifter.
Or if you're adventurous, you can shorten your existing 3-spd column to fit the power steering box. Here are a few links to read with some good info:

one other thing i can think of is the pitman arm. in mid 1971 at serial number M00,000. they made a change in pitman arms. you will wnat the pitman arm that goes with your steering linkage. someone finish explaining this for me.
