Re: Lowering help
Flipping the front hanger by far is the easiest and quickest. You could easily do it in an afternoon. Flipping the rearend up on top of the springs will require some new spring pads welded to the bottom of the rearend housing, and would also probably require you to C-notch the frame for clearance, as well as having to adjust your pinion angle to reset it to factory specs.

Re: Lowering help
you can clip 2 coils in front, but you will hit bumpstops. it will ride rough. camber is not THAT affected, but it is visually noticable. i havent noticed any handling issues.

Lowering help
Yes you need a 6 degree shim:Music_man70 wrote:i read that you might have too adjust the pinion angle after just fliiping the hanger...i have seen mono leaf lowering springs from no limit for thease trucks..does anyone know about these

this is what the shim looks like instaled. It has a hole in the center for the bolt to go through...

How much drop did you get in the rear by doing that?
And, how does that affect the box, did you have to do any other modifications?

Re: Lowering help
I havn't put the bed on, to see how it looks yet. As for the drop its a good 4", and I don't have to worry about bottoming out because I kept all the leaf springs which is great. I did have to buy lowering shocks though. The investment was small on this rout. By the end of this month we'll see how the bed sits. I'll still need to drop the front though, and I won't be cutting any springs to do that. I'll be getting the dream beams for that. I think that will be the safest most reliable way to go...Good luck which ever way you go with lowering your truck.

Re: Lowering help
Very careful with a torch, and grinder, also used a good chisle, with a big ball pin hammer. A steady hand.

Re: Lowering help
There are flip kits that require no welding and no removal of the existing spring pads. I have one I'm planning to use on my '63 frame whenever I get around to c-notching (another project on the backburner).FORDification wrote:Flipping the front hanger by far is the easiest and quickest.
