When I first bought my truck the rag joint was totally wasted. The PO had been driving it like that for a long, long, time. The rubber was gone, one of the safety stops was gone and the other was loose. The clamps for the tie rod ends were loose and had been for a long, long time so the adjusting sleeves had oblonged to the point where you cold move the tire rods up and down in them. One of the axle pivot bushings was completely gone. When driving it whenever the road banked to the left all the slop in the front end would suddenly shift over and *wham* I was half way into the oncoming lane. Add to the fact that all four brakes were metal to metal and one of the rear tires had pealed it tread from separation so I was driving on the steel belt. It made for a wild ride home when I bought her. But it wasn't insured or licensed so no worries. :D

That looks like it has already had one of the kits put in. The top pin doesn't look like it's in the slot in the column all the way. The '67- '68 rag joint has one big pin and one small pin, the '69-up joint has 2 big pins.

Me either, the PO had the truck for 15 years and I don't think he did a thing to it during that time other than drive it. You've seen from my other posts that it was just as bad under the hood. It really is a testament to these old Fords that they can be so badly abused/neglected and keep on going.
