30x9.5R 15LT Tire size?
Does anyone know what that is in metric?
Better yet, what size tire should I use on a 15 inch wheel for a bump?

Re: 30x9.5R 15LT Tire size?
I made up a spreadsheet to calculate that stuff for quick reference... some sizes are not available, but it gives a good cross reference for tire heights. in metric, the width matters to height.. In SAE it is just an additional number.
30" tire height would come out as 255/75R15. Now is that an available size? dunno... but that "Would" be a 30.06" tire. a 235/75R15 is 28.88" high. to get the width in inches. just divide the first number by 25.4.

oh... just to answer the question differently. 30x9.5r15LT works out to 235/80R15. I've not seen that size around here

I run 31x10.5x15 and those are the tallest tires you can run without rubbing on the radius arms at stock height. It looks good and gets you truck up off the ground if that's what you like.

Re: 30x9.5R 15LT Tire size?
Most floatation sizes run about 1/2" short, so a 30" tire is usually only about 29-1/2" tall.
I would go with either:
255/70R15 (29x10R15) or 265/70R15 (29.50x10.5R15)
Both of those sizes should be available at any tire shop, they are very common and would look good on a truck.
Hope that helps, Rich

Here is a great link to tire sizes. Has all the information you could possibly want. I've used it numerous times to decide what tire sizes I want to change to. Click on this: tire size calculator

Just wanted to add a couple things to this thread:
1) Stock size is G78-15, the modern equiv is 215/75-15 (27.7" tall) according to tire rack, 235's (28.9" tall) would be L78. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/ ... chart.html
3) Here's my truck with 30x9.5's just to give you an idea of how it sits with stock suspension and wheels.

I went to a 31-10.50-15 also on my 71 F100. I like the looks and the ride is even better. Taller tire smooths out the bumps better
