2" lift for 2WD

Post by Ryan »

I know this has been discussed in multiple posts, but I would really like to raise my trucks front end up 2 inches to make it level with the back. I don't want to spend $1500 bucks on the Autofab lift. I found these coil spring adjusters on JC Whitney, has anybody used these before, do they work?

I have twin I beams on the front, do I have any other options that won't require a ton of money or fabrication?
This lift is purely for aesthetics, I think the old 2WD's look nicer when they are level.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

do you have overloads in the back? maybe just pull those out...
if your springs are sagging in the front you might just need new springs.. :dk:

I have leafs in the back, if push comes to shove then I will remove a leaf or two to level it out, but I really like the height of the back and I would rather just raise the front if it is even possible.

Just extend your mounting points for your beams and radius arms then put a spacer between the ibeam and the spring to get that lift.
Just make sure to make all your extensions and spacers the same size so that you don't end up with negative or positive camber.

Or you can always Z the frame 2" but this would be alot of work.

I just installed a set of Airlift bags inside my front coils. I run them at 25 psi and got about 2 inches. I was fighting a camber issue, and this solved it. I am very happy with the bags, they come with a lifetime warranty too. Parts were 87 bucks, and came with everything needed.

Ratfink,
That sounds like exactly what I am looking for, where did you get the Airlift bags? Did you have to do any alignment after they were installed?

I bought them at a local shop here, but Jegs has 'em for 79 bucks. Airlift part number is 80523. I didn't do an alignment, but I am not too worried as all I changed was the camber. It was off enough before that all I am doing now is evening out the tires. :D

you could try and find a set of these to put on top of your coil springs. these are about 1/2 in height. maybe they make them thicker i don't know. these are made of aluminum and are curved to fit over the top of the coil spring and set against the top coil spring bucket.

Dan,
I live in Canyon Park, near Bothell highschool. I used to live on Finn Hill too, the top of Simons by Inglemoor highschool which is were I graduated from in '97. Big change for you going from Seattle weather to Arizona weather.
