king pin issue.
I ordered djm drop beams and just got around to having the king pins pressed in. went to a local machine shop that is very reputable, told him i want to schedule a time when we can do them together, as I want to see and learn how its done. finally got in, and the king pins are so loppy in the beams that you can drop them in and wiggle them around. measured it out and the holes for the king pins (in the Ibeam) are .10 too big. I suppose i need to order the .10 over king pins. anyone else have this problem? very frustrating! wish i had known because i could have had them ready instead of having to wait even longer and pay more!

Re: king pin issue.
I just checked NAPA online and they list a set of pins that are .010" oversize. I'm certain your local shop is reputable DJM however I'm not so sure about. While lowering is not to my taste I do like learning how it's done and which vendors sell what parts. The more I read about DJM the less likely I am to ever buy something from them.

Re: king pin issue.
yea i went to the local NAPA. they said they could get them. couldnt find them online though. must be doin something wrong. anyway theres an OREILLY'S in town, they can have them wed for less money. only thing about oreillys is that the people there are idiots. in my town anyway. I asked the guy at the counter if they could get me king pins. his response: OOH I dont know... If we did it would be over by the paint...
. I asked him if he knew what king pins are and he said he did.
I explained my situation and he had no idea till he went to his computer and asked me what year/make/model etc. he apparently found some. just kinda leary since most of the time that kind of situation ends in dissapointment.

For my
I'd order them from NAPA. They may be a little more $$ but NAPA stocks things that other suppliers can't seem to find.

Re: king pin issue.
while I'm certainly no expert, my experience was that the kingpins required more effort than pushing by hand and yet not enough to have to use any sort of press. I had to lube mine (can't recall what I used though but it was thin) and used one of the old ones to tap the new one in. Make sure your cutout for the pin is where it needs to be (the locking pin or drift that gets drawn down into that cutout on the side as you tighten). Or you might be tapping your new one in a out a few times to get that part lined up right.

thanks for the link clay-much appreciated
the pins that I had would fall in easily. think hotdog in a hallway. it was obvious even to me that they wouldnt work as soon as i dropped it in.
