f250 upper spring pads
71 f250 camper special. i removed the ibeams springs discs and radius arms from this. this is the first f250 that i ever remove the front i beams and springs from. and i found on each side of the truck a aluminum horeshoe shaped spacer on top of the coils springs. this looked like it was a factory thing because it had tape around one of them to hold it to the spring. plus it had longer spring retaining bolts to hold the spring strap too. or was this a aftermarket deal. i dont know. has anyone heard of or seen anything like this before? i havent taken a pic of them yet. i've been to busy with other things. but i will get pics soon. i suppose these were to give the front either more stance for a camper or jsut to rasie the front to level the ride out going down the road without a camper on it. what do you think are they factory or not.

I don't recall seeing anything like that when I changed the front springs on the '72 F250 camper special last year. My guess is it would be to level out the truck without the camper. Sounds interesting though

Re: f250 upper spring pads
Those definitely are not factory...just an attempt by a previous owner to put a Band-Aid on some sagging front springs, I'm sure.
The factory did use shims to correct a side-to-side variance, but they were located under the lower spring cup, and it was instructed to never use more than two on one side:
