hydroboost?

I've just read the article on adding a hydroboost and I have a couple of questions for whoevers done this.

1. can this be done to manual drums, or is it for discs?
2. does it put "extra" pressure on the hydraulic system, causing concerns of blowing out wheel cyls or older steel lines?
3. is this better than adding a vacuum booster.

I prefer manual everything. I kept the ps for my wife when she drives it. I am thinking about this as I will be towing a vintage (read "heavy")18' travel trailer. It will have electric brakes, but this might make it better for my wife.

From what I understand you dont want to to it with full drums.

Something about to much power, and if the drums are even a little out of balance it will throw you hard.

Basically it does the same thing as the vacumm booster, only with steering fluid.

Also it is more powerful and if the system fails you simply go back to manual brakes, vs the vacumm system that only has a few extra pumps and then the brakes become almost unusable.

Thanks, I think I will stick with what I have then, just add a few % to the travel trailerbrake controler

I love my hydroboost brakes but yeah if you have all drums I would stay away. I will say that my hydroboost and 4 wheel disc will stop on a dime. I have actually put myself into the windshield once.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no other way to have power brakes. Hydrobooooost is they way to do it! I've driven big Dodges with vac boost, and a few with hydro, and you can sure stop easier with the hydro.

I've got almost everything I need for my hydroboost setup. Sag conversion pump, booster/master cyl...just need to scrape up the cash for hoses.

Can't wait!
