Newbie

Post by GT MOTORSPORTS »

Hey guys,
I'm new here. I am in the process of purchasing a 68' bumpside. The truck is a 1/2 ton with a 360 and a 3 speed. I have always wanted a 67-72 shorty. My problem is this, the truck I want to purchas is a really clean long bed. I havent figured out how to completely navigate the site yet. Has any one on the board ever shortened a long bed frame and bed. This truck is super clean and for a $1000.00 I cnt pass it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It has been done before. I don't know about the bed. Would be easyer to buy a short bed box to put on it.

Thanks truckguy. I have several plans for this ole' truck if i get it. Mainly suspension upgrades, but I have a friend that has a newer excursion that did a cummins swap and has the 5.4 engine and tranny left over. I thought it would be cool to swap it into the 68' and make it one hella daily driver! The truck is factory red that is faded and I was thinking it would look cool with a white roof and my shop logo on the doors.

yeah i think a couple people have done it on here. atleast one.

just factor in that you will need a new driveshaft, insurance might not like it, need new bed, parking brake cables, all that stuff

Thanks 71'
I will end up running a disc brake set up. I understand about the insurance,as I have done this once before to another brand truck. There I just swapped out the whole frame but the truck was newer. Any one have a thread to this modification?
