Are the LMC steering rods of sound quality?
Good morning,
I'm replacing the steering rods on my truck and am looking at the LMC pieces:
45-2423 CENTER LINK $60
45-1926 INNER TIE ROD $60
45-1140 ADJUSTING SLEEVE $10
45-2012 DRAG LINK $30
http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/FB/full.aspx?Page=101
Does anybody have experience with these parts? Are they of superb quality, or are they funky imports?
Thanks very much!

Hi 67fordkc,
I haven't checked with them yet; maybe I should! I didn't think regular parts
guys normally dealt in those things but I guess they do.
Thanks for the idea,
-Robroy

Hey QC, thanks for the info. That sounds like a good option, since then I can compare them with my existing ones that make sure they're correct before buying them.
Thanks!

re: Are the LMC steering rods of sound quality?
I called a local brake/suspension/steering place and they said they had the parts in stock, but for twice the price of LMC! Their parts were Moog "Problem Solvers." I asked if they were made domestically and the guy wasn't sure (which means NO I think).
Then I called LMC back to see where theirs were made--they wouldn't tell me! They said that it's against their policy to give out information on who makes their parts, or even what country the parts are made in. Can you believe that?
I politely explained that I wanted to buy their parts but I couldn't unless I could judge the quality of the parts; they refused to tell me.
What does that mean? Made in China?

probably china crap.
I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for"
Check out the prices here for TRW parts which last I knew were made in canada.
There even offering Lifetime warranty. http://www.partsamerica.com/productdeta ... 61&PTSet=A

I like Rock Auto... when they have the parts I need...
They show the MFR of each part, so if you prefer Moog to TRW (even though they are the same company) you would know BEFORE you bought, unlike LMC or other compaies that do not say.
Also, they have good prices, though shipping on somehting heavy may offset the savings.
hth,
Eric

Good morning Eric, Green70, and MrTleavitt,
Thanks very much for all your suggestions!
I finally spoke with my buddies at Napa Carr Parts in Santa Cruz. They can get all the parts and they can make sure they're USA made before I pay for them, so I'm going to go with them. The prices seem pretty good too.
Seems like I've got it made! Thanks again folks for all the great suggestions.
