Anyone got a part number for napa, advanced, or autozone. Only one I could find through searches is one at advanced and it was 32 bucks and didnt have a pic so I'm not sure it was the right thing.

Thanks in advance.

Why is there two different sizes? What were the different applications?

'67-'68 used one and '69 up used one slightly different. The early one has one big pin and one small pin. and the later one has two big pins.
I think what is listed there is a kit to repair your joint. You have to take yours apart and replace the rubber disc. The complete units are about double that price.

The advance auto one is the whole thing. At $30, why bother to try and repair it.... I had one of the 202 units. Decent for the price...... (ended up re-using the orginal)

Also, not to hijack, but on a similar thread.

Why care about big pin, small pin, etc. The pins are for safety if the rag fails. They don't normally touch metal to metal. And why bother to rebuild one that has ran metal to metal for a while? The holes get enlarged, but as long as they still catch, they are Ok for safey purposes, right?

I have an assortment of steering shafts and most have somewhat rounded out holes -- with a new rag joint they would function fine and tight.

My 65 has an orignal canvas belting ragjoint and its fine, FYI. They die with sagging cab mounts. If you are tearing them up, you have to look at the cab mounts asap.....

I bought one from a big parts retail chain, and I bought one from NPD.
No comparison.
The NPD part was by far better. Beefier construction, thicker discs. IIRC, it was around $52, but I don't worry about it coming to pieces.

The one from Advance Auto seemed quite sufficient, IMHO.....

For some weird reason there was only one of the big post deals the steering wheel catches. Will the smaller one in the kit get me by for awhile until I can get another big one.

Yes, so long as they both WOULD catch if the rag was to fail. Those pins are not made to use long term, though lord knows many vehicles are driven that way. One the rag joint is running on the pins the steering is very sloppy, but still steerable.....
