Raking a bump

Post by 71Ford100 »

If I build my '68 crew into a racer I think that it would look sweet with a 2" rake. What is all involved with raking a truck and is there a purpose to doing it other than looks? It has a stock disc brake front end under it. Any pics of bumps that are raked?

I'm running 215/65/R16s on the front and 33/12.5/R16.5s in the rear. Raked out pretty good on flat ground.

I have about 2 inches of rake on my 72. The fron tires are 235 70 15s on 7 inch wide wheels. The back is 255 70 15s on the back on 10 inch wheels. The rake is not very noticeable on our trucks due to the fact that the rear wheel openings are lower on the truck than the front. They came raked from the factory to increase the payload. The rear wheel opening was lower on the side of the truck to sort of hide the difference in height. For pics of my setup, see my cardomain page listed in my signature. Hope this helps.

you talking about a power rake or a pre-runner rake? i put some 315s on my 67 and they rubbed up front so i did a junkyard lift on the front and left the back alone..... meaning the front is lifted 6 inches and the back is stock. i think its looks good.

my truck has alittle rack. if i had it sitting on the ground i could air the back up and have the front down. it would give it that sinkbug look. its sitting on 4 jack stand right now.
