Attn Fordification - Saginaw Steering gear diagram attached

Post by MadJeff »

Hey all, thought you guys might like a copy of this. I have a family friend that was a Ford mechanic for 30+ years, and the best damn mechanic I've ever known, period. =) He's currently helping me rebuild my steering gear and had this exploded diagram and how-to in his reams and reams of ford manuals. So I thought I would send up a copy to add to the site's exploded diagrams.

The PDF is attached. It has an excellent exploded diagram of the Saginaw gear as well as a rebuild step by step how-to. Do with it as you see fit. After seeing some of the reference materials he has on these old pickups, I may have more docs I can contribute as well, stay tuned. =)

Edit: Crap, the file size is too big, about 750k. Fordification, what's the best way to get this to you? Actually, I'll upload it to my web space and link, let me know when you grab it and I'll remove the link. =)

Got it....thanks! However, if at all possible, could I persuade you to scan it larger? I could then bring the image into Photoshop and clean it up. This one is great though. You can either post it to your site with a link to e-mail it directly to me at Image

I rebuilt mine last summer because it was leaking. NAPA has a kit for like 50 bucks. Took me about two hours to get it done and it works great. This would have been helpfull to have.

Sorry bud, I scanned it full-size. It was just a standard 8.5x11 sheet and covered with years of greasy fingerprints. I could try and scan it as high-res as possible and send you the jpg images however, if that will help you.

I'll do it when I get home tonight and let you know when the images are posted.

Yes, I'm betting you scanned it at 100%....does your scanning software allow you to scan it larger, like at 200%? If so, that would allow me to clean it up and then resize it down as needed. If not, that's OK, I'll see what I can do with it.

Scanned at 600dpi and saved as a .PNG, should give you a good base to start with. =) File size is about 7Mb.
