My Old Truck

Post by Glock30 »

Hello all,

My name is James and I've had a 68 F250 for quite a few years now. I am surprised that I never found this site, but it has a lot of info and I am glad I did find it.

The truck was purchased brand new from the dealer from my grandfather. He then gave it to me as a graduation gift back in 1998. Slowly I have been getting the old beast back into better shape, but I have usually had different places to spend my money. I have also been a full time college student working full time, so the truck has been on the back burner. I daily drove the truck for about 6 months, but it needs brakes and a steering gear box, so I usually keep her parked for the time being.

Specs
360cu FE engine
3 speed trans (three on the tree)
4 wheel drums
no power anything.
Some old 80's radio with some old speakers under the seats
Pertronix ignition with a flame thrower coil

Not much else is on the car... I have some headers among other parts laying around waiting for me... I will get to it some day. The truck is after all a project. Blow are some pics.

Thanks for the responses everybody. The guys got away, but they nailed their oil pan and you could see the puddle of oil turn into a trail, then disappear... So at least I got a little justice... car can't go too far with no oil in it. :D After the police came and did the police report... I backed her off the curb... heard a creek, and she seemed to have straightened her self out. I have no rear bumper at the moment though.

Right now my plans are to start fighting the rust and fix the bed. The only part of the truck that was really dented was where it was hit. I want to add power steering and some nice disk brakes. After that I may start looking for a 390 to put in there.

It is a really fun truck to drive. A lot different than anything modern. I also love working on my cars, and this is one of the first cars that I worked on.

I think that I love the 68's the best because they still had the steel painted grill, I am not too much of a chrome fan.
