Steering Column Bearings!!!

I am converting a 3sp column shift to floor shift. The current column is for manual steering. I am installing a powersteering gear into this truck but I am going to drill the dash column mount welds out and reweld them lower. Then to compensate for the distance change I will use just a shorter dished steering wheel. I did find a floor shift column ring in a junk yard and plan on using this in place of the removed shift tube and top column ring.
The question is, where does one find steering column bearings for the upper and lower bearing? The upper is in the column ring and the lower is located in the column tube itself...any help and maybe hints on removing those bearings.

You can get those from any Ford service dept...
They'll probably have to order them... they come in 4 packs.

Or, you can buy a set from me for $10 plus the ride.
I have a brand new pair of bearings left over from rebuilding my column.

You will also need to replace both the inner and outter column flanges.
Can't help ya there, but I just did the PS upgrade on my '68CS

You can get them from Allan (above) and also while you're at it, replace the lower bearing sleeve. It's the little plastic bit. Might as well check everything else, and if your turn signal switch is in question, you might want to change that as well.

Dennis carpenter has the turn signal switch for $25 or $35, I can't remember which, but its LOTS less than most other places.

I think DC makes them or has some sort of sweetheart deal.

DC is otherwise usually competative and they have a good rep.

Also -- regarding any complete column rebuild -- you need to get a wiring connector disassembley tool. This allows to pop out the bullet connectors out of the wiring plugs instead of cutting the wiring. NAPA has one, as does Radio Shack I think.

Dental picks work good for that in a pinch, or even a small nail will work too, if you can't find the proper tool.

You just have to be careful where you put the pressure on the terminal, and how much pressure to use before you try to pull the wire out.
