16.5 inch tire inquiry.

Post by kawasakifreak77 »

I've always had a soft spot for slotted wheels like these,

The problem is, where can I find a decent 16.5 inch tire? I really want to put these on an upcoming '67 project I have in the works, but the only thing I can find is mudding type tires. My '67 is 2WD & won't see anything worse than maybe a nice dirt road once in awhile. Where can I find a light pickup oriented type tire like a BFG radial T/A for a wheel this size (if they even exist) Thanks!

Run a search for BFG's web site.I don't know if they still make them but BFG did make T/A's in 16.5. I had a set on a dent. :)

I wish they did 'cause that's my favorite tire for a street truck but that was the first place I looked. Any other ideas? I'm running out of places to look!

What size 16.5 tire are you looking to run. The smallest tire you can run on a 9.75 wide rim is a 31x10.50R16.5 and that can still be a stretch for 16.5 designed wheels & tires.

Yep, they are slowly doing away with the 16.5" tire. Les Schwab still sells a few nice tire styles.

Check clearances before going with a smaller rim. You might be better off with a 17" rim.

Firestone still sells 16.5's. Check out the Transforce HT or AT.

I have them on my 72 250. They work like a champ.
