Kingpin bolt question
As per my last post I have a noise coming from the drivers' side front wheel on a 1972 F250 with disk brakes. It sounds like a large sheet metal part is moving around a lot at low speeds. Steers fine. I have my doubts that this sound is a kingpin, could it be the bolt that goes through the axel that holds the kingpin in? Turning and breaking have no direct affect on the sound. Any help appreciated before I go off to the front end shop tomorrow, which is bound to cost me lots of $$$

oh i know what it is. the spring has a washer on top of the inside of it. when it is loose it will go jingle jangle jingle going down the road. take and tighten the nut on top of the washer to tighten down the washer and stop that noise. well no that i reread the post is it a lound scraping noise now? if it is grease your king pin that could be it. unless you didn't tighten the kingpin bolt down properly when you took it apart its not loose. they dont come loose.

re: Kingpin bolt question
I had a noise in my front end on my 1 ton, kind of a light clunking noise,I had previously replaced the kingpins and bushings, the radius arm bushings, the axle pivots, new front springs and shocks,It steers great, drives like a car but I still had that noise, well now I'm replacing the front clip and noticed a slightly loose bolt below my steering box, checked it out and all 4 bolts on my driver side motor mount tower had loosed up a cpl turns I'm hoping that this was the noise I was hearing
guess I'll find out as soon as I get her together
