What will fit?

Post by Jwelch »

A question for anyone, I have a 70 f100, 360 ci 2wd. I have come across a 69 250 camper special, what will or will not fit from this onto my truck. Froam what i have seen it has factory ffront disc brakes (do not look to good though) and manual steering (bendix) this is what I really want to know about since mine just went out this weekend. Thanks.

I have a 1968 F100 with F250 disc brakes and an 8-Lug rear-end under it. It is going to be a parts truck (cab and possibly a bed donor and more), but I know it has the 4-piston Kelsey-Hayes style disc brakes with the calipers on the front of the spindles.

Did your steering go out or did your column to gearbox rag joint go bad?
Too many projects, too little time, but.. lovin' it!

No it is the box, when I turn the wheel the shaft turns and the rag joint turns but nothing else, and in one direction actually starts to lift out of the box.

I bet the bearings busted. They probably hold the shaft in the box. I had a terring box do that and it turned out that the top bearing was toast. That was what held the shaft in, so the movement of the gears pushed the shaft up and out. The box should fit though. My 67 f350 has a newer f100 box, and it works great.

the other one will fit as long as you have manual on bothe trucks. otherwise you will have to get a longer steering column to fit the bendix manual box. oops you can use the column form your parts truck with the bendix bow as long as both trucks have automatic or three on the tree. if your main truck is a 4 spd then it doesnt matter what column the other truck has.

Cool, thanks for all the info. I will be going tomorrow to start geting the parts I can. Bad thing is I have had my bump for about 2 years and just found this place right down the road! And a Camper special no doubt. Life is good.

I am also thinking about changing out the whole front end. Mine is bent and all banged up. In reading the Indentifying marks page I see to do this i will have to go with the valance, grille, headlight doors, the whole works, is this correct? The ones on the donor truck I found seem to be in pretty good shape.
