Bed Differences?
Does anyone know what if any differences exist between my 69 6x8' bed is and that of a 1973 long bed is? Does anyone know if ford changed the bed rails or anything else? Are the beds exactly the same? thanks for any input!

the floor pans are different. the wheel wells slope instead of straight like our truck are. the bolt holes are off by a few inches. the bottom rails should be the same. of course the outer body is totally different. if you are wanting to know if it will just bolt on the answer is no. modifications will be required to bolt this bed onto a bump because the bolt holes are in a wider place than our frames are. our frames are 34" wide. unless this bed came from a highboy. which had the same width frame as our trucks.

Thanks Fordman. My problem is i want to buy a snap on bed cover for my 69, but they only make em for 73 and up. Someone told me that the clamps wont fit on my bed rails because the clamps they use wont fit on my bed because the rails where different on earlier trucks? So my main concern is the bed rails being different?fordman wrote:the floor pans are different. the wheel wells slope instead of straight like our truck are. the bolt holes are off by a few inches. the bottom rails should be the same. of course the outer body is totally different. if you are wanting to know if it will just bolt on the answer is no. modifications will be required to bolt this bed onto a bump because the bolt holes are in a wider place than our frames are. our frames are 34" wide. unless this bed came from a highboy. which had the same width frame as our trucks.

no i dont think they are different on the inside. or top it is where it bends down at the top to the outside metal that it would be different. i didnt reply to the snop on bed cover thing last night i was too tired to talk much. but it would seem to me that you get the cover and just put the rivets on where the cover will strech down to snap on. i dont think lenght would be much of a problem.
