lift kit?

i would like to lift my 68cs about 4 inches. i know its 2wd but think it would look good. has anyone here done this? where did you get the lift kit from? thanks

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

what is the differance in a lift and a body lift?

A Body lift just raises the body up off the Frame where as a lift raises the Frame up from the axles. :)

You can't body lift a 2wd without major steering work.

i bet you could lift the body and use a saginaw box and a bendix column. but you could only go so high before you would have to rig something else in there.

maybe i will just get a lift kit for it. rather spend a little more than have to jerry rig up my steering.

Ok, time to school me on 4x4's :) as I have never seen one of these old ford truck 4x4's up close and personal... what is different with the way the steering is hooked up. does it have an intermediate shaft or something? I'm guessing that is it, as I thought I have seen that the stearing box is in front of the axle... anybody got a picture?

You're right on. The 4x4's have the box forward of the axle with a 2' or so shaft in there. You know how the 2wd's are.

Dustin's right about the 2WD steering, (I guess I never really looked the 2WD real close before now).
With the 2WD steering box aft of the front wheels it probably would be pretty tough.

I installed a custom body lift easily on my old style Bronco, (I lengthened the steering shaft by using 40K PSI crane tubing).
But the 4WD already had universal joints in place to easily correct the angle created by the lift.
