Load Range D or E for an F250 that rarely hauls

Post by HOWDY69 »

I am looking at the Firestone Transforce HT and Michelin LTX. Both are available in 265/75R16E. The Michelin is also available in 235/85R16D.

I run E's currently at about 50 psi because I never haul anything. Would it be better just to run D's?

The 265's would give me a little wider footprint which the 410FE could use but I cannot find them in D's.

If you are rarely hauling anything, then yes. I'd go with D load range tires.
They would be fine for hauling the truck around.

Personally I wouldn't go with anything less than E range. But i sometimes haul loads equal to the weight of my bump empty. So I need them big load tires.

I personally am looking very hard at the TruXs tire made by Interco.
I know Interco makes an excellent off-road tire, and half the time my bump is out in field, so good traction is very necessary.

I had Michelin LTX tires on my 1/2 ton. Great tires for road and sometimes off-road. Not real loud humming wise. Great side wall strength.

Just my :2cents:

I have a set of E rated Yokohama all terrains on my 91 and they are hands down the best all around pickup tires I've had. They ride great, work unbelieveably well in the rain, don't care if I overload the crap out of them and they wear like iron. They actually don't squat at all. I've been driving around for the past week with 1800 pounds of cummins and allison in the bed and the rear tires look normal.

I've heard a lot of others talk highly of them too, just thought I'd pass it on.

Also, it's been my experience that the load rating doesn't necessarily equate with how much weight the tire will actually handle or how it will ride. What tires say on them and what they do are two different things. I've had radial D's that ride worse than bias and E's and heavier that ballon like car tires and come apart under weight.
