Well maybe you guys can give me an opinion
I have had my 71 F250 for 12 years and my dad had it since 73. Never wrecked and not really ever touched except for rebuilt motor and trans back in 84 with 112K
The rear leaf springs are a little weird.
The driver side rear is a 9 leaf and the pass rear is a 6 leaf. back in 85 we put springs on top that increase the load capability by 2500lbs to level it out (can't remember the name of these leafs for the life of me right now). My dad's friend's opinion at the time.
It came from the factory that way. It is a camper special maybe that has something to do with it/ The driver side rear sits about 3/4" higher then the pass side. Any opinions?
Blessings,

re: rear leaf springs
r71f250,
Could be a broken leaf, (sometimes hard to see if it's cracked in between leaves).
If these are the original springs I'd replace them, (especially if they are showing signs like that). Usually be done for around 3-4 hundred max. You should have a driveline/spring shop in your local.
I've seen leaf springs on the side of the road many times.
Just glad I wasn't behind the guy when it flew out!

re: rear leaf springs
Yep, it was definitely modified by a previous owner, there's no way the truck left the factory like that. Here's a picture of the drivers-side spring on my '67 the day I brought it home....the seller was actually driving it like this!

re: rear leaf springs
The leaf springs are not broken or damaged. The rear suspension is completely stock. There are helper springs on the rear leaf springs. The truck was equiped with flex-o-matic leaf springs. I just don't understand why the factory would have or put a 6 leaf on one side and 9 leaf on the other. I was just courious if anyone else had seen this before. Leafs are not damaged in any way its just interesting why.
I probably get new leafs for both sides from LMC next month.. thanks..

Re: re: rear leaf springs
Just a suggestion but you might try a local outfit that does truck suspension work. Most of them can get rear springs for our trucks. The ones near me can beat the prices and you don't have to pay big bucks for shipping.r71f250 wrote:
