new guy looking at a bump
Hi guys. Im new here to the forum. Im currently looking at a bump for a parts/beater truck. Ive owned a 67 F-250 in the past and loved it. This one is a 67 f-100 with the 352 and 3speed. Would run and drive with a little bit of brake work. Cab is rust free (floors look solid) but the bed has some dents and a little rust near the front. Glass is all good. He wants $750 for it but I know he would take less. Its also black with red interior which is what I want. I could probably find a better one for about $1500 later on or I could put another $700 into this one and make it my own. Im still on the fence. Help.

For me anyway, the projects the thing. If you buy the $750.00 one and fix it up, then its yours, how you want it, not how someone else wanted it.

Hey if you like the truck for $700, pay full asking price and fix it to your liking. If you really would rather have something else, pass.

Money wise, you are usually better off paying $4500 for the really nice one that someone put $9000 into.
Pick your poison based on your patience for projects. If you can only stay enthused about a project for 6 months, don't take on a 2 year job. I flat out can not tackle full restorations. I need to start with something that is pretty clean.
Whichever truck you get, Best of luck with it!

My TriPower doesn't get very good mileage. What's the problem?

I would go with the $700 that puts $800 right in your pocket to buy the things that you like for the truck. If you like the color and the cab is good that is the way I would go. Just my opinion though. By the way Welcome from Washington State for the third time.

Welcome from California!
I have to go with Seattle67 and nadams on this one... take the time and effort to make her your own - you'll find lots of help and advice here on this site to make the process much easier!
The caveat to that would be that you need to be realistic about your capabilities and the amount of time and $$$ that you can spend on it to get it the way you want. I've had a couple 'projects' that I had great intentions for, but just never could quite wrap up.
If you hang around this site enough, though, you'll get the inspiration you need to 'git er done'!
