i know you can use the 79 2wd if you want to. on a 67-72. you just have to use the bottom spring cups with the springs. but i havent really looked at a 4wd coils to say yes or no. but i would guess that you could if you use the bottom spring cups.

Keep in mind that the camber is set at the factory to a specific ride height and is not easily adjustable...you have to bend the I-beams to correct it. When you lift the front end with taller springs (or spacers), you're going to affect the camber, and the only fix is to bend the I-beams to compensate. Just an FYI.

But if you had a six cyclinder and you are going to put a v-8 should you not put heavier coil spring under it for the weight differents.

that is a good question. i have parted out three f100's all of them seemed to have the same size springs under them. im not saying they were the same but they were the same length. according to this page http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... eams01.jpg the spring were the same from 65-69. on this page theyare alos the same part number without a referce to different spring duties. there is a different mouning procedure for 250 350 and camperspecial though. because of the diferent top coil bucket. now some new springs are made diffeently. some are made thicker for a v8 where the smaller engines get a thinner coil. i think used ones will all be the same sensitivity.

New ones might lift it back to stock height. Do they make new ones anymore?

New coil springs should be available at your local parts store. I got a set for my '69 for about $60.00

Danno,
Want to rise the front up some.
If you're decent with wrenches this can be done by lowering the upper coil spring towers.

You can usually get at least 2" of lift by doing this.

Danno,
You can grind or use an air chisel to get them off.
Then cut them down, and reweld them to the frame.
Here's a good picture to show you what it does.

The springs for V8s and I6s are differant.

You would not have to bend the beams if you move the pivot down as well. They make a kit for the 80's 2x4s to do this. They would be easy to make for the 65-79 frames. Then you could have a shop strech out your springs, or something.

You would still have to have them bent a little to get the alignment done, but it would be within the factory design.

What about steering problems, the links would no longer be in the right plane and could have negitive effects.
