So my brake pedal is higher than clutch pedal by a couple of inches. The guy that gave me the truck said that he replaced master cylinder some time ago. My question is.. is it possible that they gave him wrong one? ie one for power brakes, since that should require a longer pushrod right?
here is a photo of the pedals

re: brake pedal position
so how are your cab mounts? soft or gone? if so that likely the main problem. with the seal for the coelom were it is and the hole in the floor I would strongly recommend looking under your truck at the mounts first.
and is the clutch adjusted proper? mine as a settable stopper/bonker thing to keep the pedal level.
and how are the bushings?
also the clutch linkages cam/ leaver could be the problem. allot of the times the bushing on it wear, and there is one or two different stroked cams meaning if they changed it at some time with the wrong one the pedal will be up or down from the brake pedal.

re: brake pedal position
I will check my mounts but from what I saw underneath truck is pretty solid.
the rusted out floorboards are from water leaking in from the cowl area i guess. I mean i took the battery tray out to clean it up and under it was only a little surface rust.
Leadfoot where exactly is this "stopper/bonker thing" my clutch pedal is located properly (not low or at least not much out) my brake pedal is so high that to apply brakes my knee hits steering wheel.
Fordman i will try to figure out how to adjust the underhood linkage to see if it corrects pedal orientation.
thanks guys, guess ill be busy when kids are done with the opening of gifts.

re: brake pedal position
I'm with everybody else. The clutch pedal seems low, and the brake pedal looks about right. The stoplight switch and striker should stop the brake pedal from going too high. The striker is welded to the steering column support bracket, and even if the stoplight switch were taken off the pedal arm, the pedal could only travel an inch or so higher than it's supposed to.
Check to see that your stoplight switch is in place, and that there's maybe an inch or so of threads showing on the plunger side of the bracket it's mounted on. If so, that would indicate that the brake pedal is in the correct position.
Can you pull the clutch pedal up with your hand so that it's close to the same height as the brake?

the rubber bumper for the clutch pad is located behind the clutch pedal on the inside of the cab on the very back of the clutch pedal. the adjustor for the brake pedal rod is under the dash on the master cylinder to pedal rod. if it doesnt have a adjustable rod then you wont be able to adjust that. the clutch pedal rod is under the cab and in the engine compartment.
and something i just thought of. if the bearing for the clutch pedal is worn out on the clutch side it will make the pedals rack toward the brake pedal and make it want to set higher.
