3/4 ton dual piston brake calipers

Post by mytmatt »

I have just heard that the F 250 brake calipers, the ones that have two pistons per, have clearance issues with 15" wheels. Can someone who has been there, done that fill me in on this? I just got a set of these same calipers that I was getting ready to put on my '72 F-100. But! I also recently went to some lengths to acquire a set of vintage aluminum slotted mags, and they are 15". Can I have both, or must I choose?

Thanks

Matt

Those calipers will work on an F100 spindle? I thought the F250/350 front ends were not interchangeable with the F100.

If you exchange the entire front end, it'll work. But then you have 8 lug wheels on the front and 5 lug on the rear.

The PO of my truck told me he installed dual-piston calipers from an F350, and YES, I did have interference issues with 16 inch American Racing wheels. I had to go to a 17 inch wheel. Nothing wrong with that, except the tires are more expensive.

I have 8 lug wheels all around....

Well, I am sure glad I asked before diving off too far into this. I had been told the calipers were a bolt-on thing. I sure don't want to swap out the entire front end.

Thanks very much for your time and expertise, guys.
