Steering box rebuild

Post by skiziks »

The only thing that keeps me from using my '69 wheel as a daily driver is the lack of power steering.

I have filled the pump a few times and cleaned everything to see if I can find the leak is and I have isolated it down to the steering box itself. I snapped a few pictures for identification and you can look at them here. http://picasaweb.google.com/skiziks/PowerSteeringBox

Anyone ever rebuild one of these steering boxes or should I just look to replace it?

Thanks for your input!
Larry

fmartin,

Good link, thank you!

I'd always heard of pieces flying apart during teardown, but never tried one.
