Power Drum Brakes
Is it possible to bolt on a vacuum booster behind a manual drum brake master cylinder? I dont really have the money to convert to discs right now, but I would like to at least have power drums.
Thanks,
Tim

re: Power Drum Brakes
I sure hope it is, because I'm planning on doing just that on my 67 soon. I bought the booster here:

Should be simple from what I have read in this web site. Don't have to disconnect any brake lines, there is enough slack to just unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall, then bolt it up to the booster once the booster is mounted.

Definetely! I've done it on my 71. You will need to get the brackets from a junker. Got my brackets from the junkyard. You may have to work on the push rod that connects the pedal to the vacuum can. If I remember correctly I had to lengthen the pushrod as it sits off the firewall farther.

There is no difference in brake lines between power and manual drum brakes.

Yep, my '67 Fairlane has power assisted drums. Has a booster behind the master. So not only can it be done, but it has. And from the factory no less.

I also have power drums on my 72.They work okay but I can't wait until I have the time to do the disc swap.
