diff/leaf springs

I'm going to reinstall my leaf springs and differential...the bolts for the leaf springs are not to be tightened until the truck is sitting on it wheels under its own weight...what about the nuts on the u-bolts that attach the differential to the the leaf springs? Do I wait to tighten those until the truck is resting on its rear tires or do I tighten them while the weight is off the rear-end?

The axle u bolts can be tightened while truck is up on jack stands. When tightening the u bolts do each side of u bolt evenly as possible, so you end up w/ similar amount of thread on each side.

Make sure you re-torque the u-bolt nuts after a few miles of driving.

Was once told that used u-bolts aren't supposed to be re-used. :hmm:
Anybody else here heard this?
I know from experience, (I've re-used them) they are a pain to bolt back up if you've had spring work done.

I have re-used the u-bolts, but they weren't that old and beat up.

I had a set for my rears made for about $35 last year.
