bump convert to disc, where to locate new brake hose bracket
Ok, have my 68 skinned down to nothing, ready to begin reinstall of everything with new kingpins/bushings and disc conversion. About where on frame do I drill and attach the disc brake hose brackets, anybody got any pic or measurement? Be my luck I'd wind up 4 inches too far back and rubber hoses not reach and I'd have to redrill. Don't want to add more holes that necessary. THANKS! Banjo.

They should go in the same spot as the old ones did.

Here's a shot of the L/S bracket bolted onto my '67 frame:

Hands about average, and I'm just hoping that having the rest of front suspension out of way will give me a tad extra room to attempt. I do dread that.

I don't know if I got lucky or what, but I didn't have to change the brackets when I converted my 72 F100 to disc last month. The brackets look identical to the ones in Keith's picture, and the hoses I got for a 79 F150 slid in perfectly.
Maybe it's because my truck was kind of a late production 72? (built in May of 72)

no, my old brackets were way different. No joke about access, just finished bolting up pass side, no sweat, went to driver side, there is an access hole about the size of a chipmunks head and I just had to stop and think about that plus ran out of time, other things to do tonight. but that driver side is gonna be a bugger to get to. That quote about small hands is an understatement, you'd need tentacles to reach in easy. Banjo.

Banjo, I think I remember reading that you can use an offset wrench (like a distributor wrench) to get to the nuts on the driver's side bracket.

You sure can do that. I bought a $1.99 wrench and cut it in half.Mooosman wrote:Banjo, I think I remember reading that you can use an offset wrench (like a distributor wrench) to get to the nuts on the driver's side bracket.
