do i put 90 weight in my manual steering gear box?

that is what i was always told but i have heard different on this site. some guys put 50 weight in i think.

Thanks, I was changing a water pump & was able to check it for the first time & it looked pretty low. Thanks again.

i would have to say without even looking at that that must be worng. it needs to be a liquid to get around to everything grease sticks and doesnt flow around and therefore would have to be reapplied more often.

click on it to get the rationale. maybe we can get a debate brewing here. I put the 90W in my new box and it immediately ran out the bottom as stated in the article. Im going to refill it with some moly.

I have no experience with the 2wd manual boxes, I've thrown several in the scrap pile, but never looked inside to see what they were filled with. However, I've rebuilt many of the F-250 4x4 boxes and they are filled with 90WT.

i must be getting tired i thought we were talking about transmissions. gee i look like a idiot. please ignore what i said. they do take grease. im sorry about that.

everyone ive ever opened up had grease in it :D :fr:
