Park and Nuetral safety switch.

Post by mljjones67 »

On the 67 2x4 auto each time I start it I have to push the shifter lever to the drivers side. Is there a way to adjust this so I can just turn the key and not worry about holding it over? Thanks all

Yes. You can loosen the two bolts holding the NSS to the steering column and slightly move it left or right as required. The holes in the NSS that the bolts go through are oval to allow for such adjustment.

I though it was at the end of the steering column in the engine compartment on a '67.

jeez guys. didn't all know that this was a theft deterrent system offered from ford through the early seventies? lol

only those in the know will reach over the column with their left a r m and pull up on the shift lever while cranking the ignition with the right. :D i thought everyone knew that. 8)

All automatic steering columns have the NSS at the base of the column, inside the cab.
