Here's the official response from Rancho... perhaps this will help someone else, too..
Thank you for your interest in Rancho products. We offer shocks for the 67
F-100 4WD, but we do not offer any shocks for the 2WD model. If you have
the 4WD truck you should use the following part numbers.

front - RS5140
rear - RS5118

You will also need RS8125 axle shim kit so that you get enough axle to
shock clearance.

Right now, I think I'm leaning toward the KYB GasAJust shocks...[/quote]

My '72 still has the factory shocks on the rear. The only time I really notice they need to be replaced is while towing our travel trailer.

Not sure what brand I'll get but they will be gas (do they still make regular shocks?). I have Napa "off-road" shocks on my 79, they have been there for 10 years and they still work just fine.

My friend manages a HUGE parts warhouse/WD and I'll take what ever he can give me the best deal on and then paint them black like the factory did.

I went with the better Monroe. Truck rides pretty good now. I replaced the springs too.

Nice... thanks for the info! That's pretty much where I'm leaning now (the KYB's).

Isn't it amazing when you pull some factory original stuff like shocks off your truck. Is it that they managed to last THAT long, or that folks just drove on worn out shocks forever? Either way... good stuff. You should keep one for the smithsonian. lol!

There the stamping is in all it's glory.
I had to wire wheel off a lot of crap to see what brand they were.
I was shocked, lol, no pun intended.
They are just dead. No compression or rebound.

I took the Autolites off the front of mine last month. They too were dead...probably had been for years.
