Dropped I-Beams

Post by rsjohnsn »

Hi all, I am pulling my engine this week and I am going to redo everything under the hood such as paint. I have already removed the front clip and sent the radiator off. I would also like to change out all of the front suspension stuff such as tie rods, brakes, etc. I am also thinking about lowering her while I am under there but I have a few questions. Where is the best place to get dropped beams? Also, which is the best ones to get? Do I need to order to fit my spindles or do they only fit certain spindles? If you have any input on fixing anything else in the front end feel free to tell me.

Thanks
Scott

I ordered my DJM beam and rear drop shackles from Summit. Here are the part #'s I bought.

Drop Beams - DJM-DB3004-3

Drop shackles - HS1130-4

Go to the summit web site and enter the part # in the search box to find the parts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys for the info, that was what I was looking for. I'm not sure what I am going to do in the rear yet. I thought about flipping the hangers over but not sure how the stance will be. I believe I will wait until I get the beams and see how she sets. Now all I have to do is sweet talk the boss into letting me go ahead and get them. Wish me luck!

When you get the beams, you want to get the ones for the year / spindles you are using as the king pins are different size for the newer 75-79... if your going to Disc brake setup... just one thing to remember...

Do a search on "Dream Beams" or "DJM" and you'll find some good info on the drop beams that people have done.

Sounds like your making some good progress on yours

flipping the hangers is the way i went, and like i said i trimmed 1 round out of my coils to treak the stance. the truck sat real even at first but i had to add 6 degree shims to correct my driveline angle and it brought the rear up a little and gave it some rake but still looks good.
