F250 4X4 Front Drum Brakes Dana 44 6CF 3500#
I have been surfing the site as well as the web and have yet to determine whether I need 12" x 2 1/2" or 12 1/8" x 2" Brake Shoes for my 1970 F250 4X4. I have been trying to cross reference parts catalogs since I would like to replace the hoses and wheel cylinders as well. But I have only been confusing myself, I was hoping to have the right parts before dis-assembling my hubs. Anyone know the correct size, and if I should include additional parts to my list. Thanks, Keith

Thanks Dustin, I also want to thank you for the excellent advice on the Power Assist Steering. I am totally stoked with the results of the bolt on system. I had to purchase after market hydraulic lines for the control valve and power cylinder. So the mounting brackets were crap, I just jury rigged the lines with the beefiest wire ties I could find.
Thanks again, Keith

Now I remember, those 3 screws are a bugger to break free. In fact I just broke my biggest slotted screwdriver trying. I looked at the impact screwdrivers today at NAPA, however the bits looked to small and seemed as though they would do more damage to the drum screws. Where do I get the correct (hit it with a hammer) impact screwdriver and extra large bit to do this job? Anyone know? _____ Just surfed the site and found the answer to my question, sounds as though she'll be OOC for a bit when I decide to get busy. Was hoping to have the parts in hand before beating on her.
Thanks, Keith

When I did the front brakes on my F250 4x4 I couldn't get the three screws to break lose. Broke a screw driver and started to strip the screw heads. The best way I found was to pull the whole front hub, that way the front wheel bearings can get repacked and checked at the same time. Usually saves alot of time too.

I like the whack it with a hammer drivers. Think I bought mine at napa for $20 years ago. Taking the whole drum off might be easier if the screws are real bad.
I must've been lucky. Of all the early drum brake 4x4's I've had the screws actually came right out.

You more then likely have the light duty (small ball) D44. They are the thinner shoe.

I think these are the tool for removing the drum screws without damage. I just purchased a set to try when I find some time.
