lower valance

Post by 69 STYLESIDE »

:? Anybody know the best way to remove the outside corners of the lower valance? The drivers side of the valance has some minor damage and I would like to take it off to get at it with the right tools. I'm gonna take off both sides for proper paint prep if I can find a good method. Thanks in advance

Hey 69 SS...

The lower valance is a single piece. There a couple of bolts on each side holding it to the fender and a couple more spaced across the valance.
There isn't enough clearance to remove it without removing the bumper first.
I just went thru that with a '69 I was trying to remove one from.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to remove the front bumper because there was a tire carrier welded onto the cross member and was covering the bumper bolts.
I wish I could have gotten both the tire carrier and the valance off.
The tire carrier was also a hitch receiver, which is why it was welded to the cross member.

Good luck,

When I took mine off, I removed the front bumper first the the lower valance is held on by 6 or 8 body bolts.
