Lincoln fwd sub frame.

Post by robgus »

Has any body heard if you can install a lincoln fwd sub frame on the F-100? Apparently the mounting points are the same width as center of our frame rails.

You mean the entire lincoln fwd engine and all or just the suspension, steering and crossmember minus the fwd crap?

I saw the front end of a 78 lincoln bolted in to a 77swb 2wd. Looked about as straight up as you could get. The lower control arms are long enough that you can use the factory xmember to mount them on. The width is right for the truck. Only gave about 4 to 5 inches of drop though. I have pics someplace I will try to find them. If not I kinda know the guy so maybe I can get some.

I looked at a local junk yard and saw a few 90's fwd continentals. I was thinking just the suspension but maybe you could switch to fwd if you wanted.

check out 03 and up crown vic's and grand marquis. They have a bolt in aluminum front suspension sub frame including the upper spring cup. the spring cup is no longer built into the frame. From what I could tell it was completely bolted on. I didn't take any measurements yet, but if you beat me to it let me know your findings. Also check out the lincoln Mark VIII IRS set up. could be a possibility.
