good shocks

what are some good off the shelf shocks? i know bilstien and kyb are good choices but i don't want to blown down 40$ a pop either. are gabriel and the like good enough? do i need gas shocks? i really need new ones, it looks like the originals are still on the truck and i need some good replacements. opinions please.

I like the shocks NAPA sells either the sensitracs or their brand.

cool. are they gas or hydraulic? i guess gas are stiffer and last longer? hell, i really don't know much about shocks.

Mine look like original too. I hope to do front springs and shocks soon. No rear shocks on my truck.

Napa Shocks are re boxed Monroe, the least expensive
will be hydraulic, the next price level will be gas.
I just purchased 4 pro comp es9000 + steering stablizer for my Highboy for 160.00 w/ Ca sales tax. form 4wheelparts.com
Monroe or Gabriel are good shocks I would opt for the upper middle offering of either brand.

I know you do not want to spend the money, but th KYB gas charged are great, everyone comments how good my truck rides, even by 87 year old grand mother.

I go with the Monroe brand.. from the Advance Auto they list 3 different versions (and price ranges) for the truck. I always go with the middle version... they are nice and bright yellow too!

Not sure if they are gas or hydraulic.

Funny, everybody thinks my truck rides nice with the worn out front coils and the ancient shocks. I'm almost afraid to replace them. Mrs. Flatbedford would rather ride in the '70 than the '96 F250.

KYB's are a good choice, IIRC they were 33.00 each at Summit.

I was unable to find any Bilsteins to fit, and 40.00 each probably wouldn't touch them if I could.

The middle Monroe shocks are the way to go...plus as an added bonus to you...they are YELLOW!

i've been pricing kyb gr-2's for about 30 (rear) to 38 (fornt) locally. does that sound about right?

and duckryder- iv'e got a full set of bilstiens off a 2000 lightning with about 35k on them- if i could figure out a way to make them work i would.

i'd like to get away from that "on the ocean" feelling. this thing sways like a maple tree in the breeze.

i noticed the gas adjust are about 10 more a corner. i'd be cool with the gr-2's.
