re: New F100 Nut from PA/So Jersey...
Well Thanks one and all for the Welcome...
I drove home with no major issues...although now that I am home it'll be time for a serious tune...
Trip summary...
Flew in...
looked over truck...lil disapointed with paint in person...clear coat really bad on roof and other spots.
test drove truck... a lil rough starting but settled down to smooth idle
old tired drums and quick stops = raised heart rate/and sweaty palms
Got the window tinted while I was completing transaction (pix soon)...
took truck straight to Midas..."Oil change and New Brakes all around please" if you're ever in Lauderhill Fla stop in and say hey to Rick and my man Fidel. Well maybe not Fidel..I'll tell you why in a sec....
Spent Night on the town with friends...You Gotta Love South Florida at night...
com'on stay with me...don't get bored yet...
okay...Pick up truck from Midas...I now have BRAKES..whoa baby...
Pull out for home....Vroooommmmm
rides going fine until some truck loses a retread and folks panic...65mph to OMG no Fin BRAKES...and the return if the sweaty palms and soiled shorts....
find a local tire/brake shop...Problem...loose break line...snug snug snug a quick flush and $65 later...YEEE HAWWW I got BRAKES again...
so 1300 miles and 100 gallons of gas (give or take a bit)
and i have a new road story to share for years to come and the coolest 1970 Fordolet in the Mid Atlantic...
now I just need to install the pertronix ignition, some plugs/new wires,
and some carb cleaner a bit of wet sanding and rattle canning to get by
I'll have a great truck with it's own charm and style... thanks
next up...set of Black Crager Soft 8's (sitting in garage)
some new rubber and I will be ready to roll.

Sounds like a great adventure (not the one in Wash. Twp. LOL) Must have been some trip, 1200 miles in that truck! I've driven to and from Fla. many times and always wondered what it would be like in my '71. How many hours? My longest trip was about 6yrs ago. 40 hours!!! We left at 10:00A.M. on Good Friday and sat in bumper to bumper traffic the whole way. My best was 7yrs ago, 16 1/2 hrs to Daytona from Mahwah (Bergen County).

Fidel is the guy that worked on my truck at Midas...and left a break line a lil loose...It could have been a mess...
All is well that ends well...
I sent Rick at Midas a copy of the bill from the brake shop in GA and the credited my card for the whole amount.
Now I just have to get the Blue Oval Cult keepers off my back about the stepside box on the truck and I'll be off to the races. Putting dif wheels and tire on this weekend...will post pix when done.

I think those fenders actually look good on the bumpside. The bumps nearly line up. The Ford ones are a little utilitarian.

I will never go to Midas. I think they are a bunch of idiotic crooks.
But that's just what I can say on a public forum.

I can respect your opinion...but in my case the loose brake line aside. I have to say the Guys at the Lauderhill FL Midas did a great job.
They ordered parts from several distributors...
Stayed open an hour past their closing time...
Called me often to keep me apprised of status...
Gave me a 10% discount on parts and ate 50% of the labor...
Then when I called and advised they almost killed me with the loose
brake line, they refunded the cost from the brake shop in GA to me
with no questions.
The Manager even called and asked that I call him directly if I have any
problems and he'd contact a Midas local to me for assistance.
All in all sounds like good customer service to me.

Mine was 1/4 mile from my house. Drove it home with no plates.

Another Howdy from Texas. I have a stepside bed off of a 1967 that would go well with that truck. Just let me know when you come to your senses. Congrats on the ride.
