I am coating the entire underside:
The bed, the cabin, the wheel wells, the transmission well;
And the entire engine compartment including the underhood area of my 71 F100 longbed.
How much POR 15 will I need and how many coats does it take?
POR 15 amount

not sure on the amount but I have used it before and POR15 is UV sensative so it will turn color if in the sun so you need to put the black top coat on it as well where you want it to stay black....

re: POR 15 amount
For best results you need at least two light coats. For what you've got to do, I'd say 4 quarts....maybe 5, but your milage may vary depending on how thick you apply it.
DON'T get the gallon, just go with the individual quarts. Just pour out what you need into a Tupperware dish and seal the can back up, putting a sheet of Saran Wrap between the lid and can, to prevent the lid from bonding to the can. (If that happens, nothing short of some plastic explosives will get the can open...don't ask me how I know!)![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
One more piece of advice, learned from experience. Spend a couple extra bucks to get one or two of their plastic pouring spouts, which will snap on the can rim and keep drips from getting between the lid and can. They're only a couple bucks apiece, and money well spent.![Thumbs up :thup:](./images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif)
