What's this thing-a-magigy
A boss in the casting in the attached image of part (3511) was stressed and finally broke while I was re-assembling my steering wheel assembly after replacing the turn signal switch. The boss received the barrel and arm for the turn signal switch, and held it in place. Anyway, I wondered if anyone knew what part # 3511 was called so I could ask intelligently when scouting the boneyards for one. I JB welded the boss back in place, but my guess is that it won't last for long.

I think it's called the shift flange.

Hey Pasty63...
I have one of those from a '71 F-250 w/auto that I'm not gonna use on my '68... I don't think the column in a rig with 4-speed floor shift needs one.
I'm sure we could work out somethin'...

re: What's this thing-a-magigy
Thanks Kapn, I appreciate it. I have a friend that lives down that way on the weekends and commutes for work up here during the week -so I can have them pick it up for me - or I can come down and pull it the next time I'm headed out to Westport. Let me know what you need for it.
The JB weld didn't even make it through assembly. There's actually some spring tention in the linkage tubes, so I ended up tying the selector collar down to the base of the column - then putting the selector flange or shift plate thingy on. The signals and brake lights work great now, I'll just have to be tendor with the signal arm so I don't break the new plastic in my switch.

Hey Pasty63...
No worries... it's pulled... the column is already disassembled.
I needed to pull the main center steering rod so I can convert my '68 over to power steering without having to cut the manual steering shaft.
Any time you wanna run down here to Elma is cool...
I didn't want to use the auto column and have to deal with all the extra stuff... I like the clean look of the manual/floor shift column.
I was gonna start posting stuff I'm not gonna use on my '68.
I just don't know what I'm not gonna need yet...
except that it will never have an auto trans...
I like to pop the clutch way to much....
Let me know... we'll hook up.
