68 / 72 grill swap ????

Post by fitzwell »

ok....the 68 short wide is about get underway. Have a 72 as a partial parts truck & would like to use the grill/ grill shell out of the 72. What all do i need to rob off the 72 to make this work? will be changing fenders anyway, is just the lower valance & the panel across the core support all that is different?

The grille will swap over as an assembly and bolt right up, though there will be a couple holes to drill...you'll see where they'll need to be. You'll definitely need the lower valance, but you won't need the upper valance, as long as you're using all your original hood latch hardware. If you use the '72's hardware instead, then yes you'll need the upper valance.

ok..will the 68 hood latch hardware bolt to the 72 hood? Don't mind swapping parts around, just need to know what interchanges & what doesn't :?

The latch hardware that bolts to the hood is exactly the same. It's the receiving hardware in the upper valance that's different. You can use either style of receiver, as long as you also use the matching upper valance panel.
