New From NorCal

Post by thirdtry »

Thought I'd check in with the members. I live in Napa and just became the proud :? owner of a 1971 F250 Camper Special, Ranger XLT. It has seen some better days and there are many things I need to do to make it drivable. My initial goal is to get everything working all at one time and then stabilize the rust on the exterior so it doesn't get any worse. After that will depend on how I feel by then. My first project has been to get the brake lights working. I'll be in the Electrical Forum soon begging for help. I have pics in the Photo Galleries under my username. Thanks!! :D

Welcome to the site. You have come to the right place to ask questions about these trucks. I have yet to see a question go unanswered. Someone here will be able help with most anything involing these trucks. Again welcome and enjoy the site.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, that's a hangar. My other ride is a Citation CJ2 I keep the Bump in the hangar when the boss isn't around, so I can do light work on it there but I can't really tear into it. The truck is in okay shape. The electrical system is a problem. I don't have any brake lights and the front blinkers both blink at the same time :( . There seems to be an exhaust manifold leak from the left side and the front of the engine is covered in about a half inch of goop and grease. The box is sagging down on the right although I haven't tried to figure out what's bent. There's quite a bit of (mostly) surface rust in various places (drip rails, that sheet metal joint on the side of the box) but overall, not too bad. The front got slightly tagged, but only the grill and the metal piece behind it got bent a bit. Other than that, just 36 years of hard use. The price was right, though, FREE :D .
