How's it going? I just found your site, and wish I would have found it long ago. There's a lot of great technical info here that definitely would have helped out a lot with some past projects. I especially like the fact that you have pictures of almost everything, since tech drawings of this era are hard to find. Anyways, I look forward to working with you guys. Oh yeah, I drive a '67 F-250 4x4 camper special with the original 352 bored .030, 360 heads, 427 4bbl intake, 750 holley,etc. Take it easy.

Yeah, like Flyboy2610 said, I had never heard of a camper special 4x4 either. Most of the camper specials I've seen had 2WD and auto trannies (although some had manuals). The guy I got it from swears it was a camper special (we all know how reliable that can be). What I do know is this: It has most of the options that are common on the camper special: the camper mounts, the huge heater, etc. What it does not have is the under-bed fuel tank (which, from what I understand, is not entirely exclusive). It has a lot of nicely done, very unique custom work that, judging by the parts used, is probably as old as the truck itself: dual in-bed tanks (in addition to the one behind the seat) with a manual tank select/ fuel shut-off valve beside the seat on the drivers side, the oldest alarm system I've ever seen (a switch inside the cab turned it on, and it would continuously sound the horn if the hood was opened), it had a HUGE AM radio mounted under the dash (made by MOTOROLA, weighed about 5 lb.) with a single 6x9 speaker, also made by Motorola, under the dash on the passenger side, and a 8-track player mounted in the dash radio cutout. I've swapped out the radio setup for a CD player (the dash was already cut). The truck had two odd things about it: first, all the custom work was extremely nicely done, mostly with stainless steel, and was definitely not a backyard job, since it would have required at least a well-outfitted sheet metal shop. The other odd thing is that it was completely void of external emblems: No hood letters, no side emblems, nothing. The truck is in really solid shape, and I have rebuilt the motor and am in the process of tracking down those original emblems (so far, i've just found the side hood emblems). What I would like to know is if there was a factory option, code, or abnormality that would definitely tell me if it is a camper special (not that it matters one way or another, but I want to know as much as I can about the truck). I'll post some pictures ASAP if anyone is interested. As far as I know, there is no VIN code for this option. As always, any help is appreciated.

Does it have the original door tag on the drivers door?
if so, look and see what the GVWR is. My '69 is a Camper Special, and it has a #7500 weight rating. That may not tell you that it definitely WAS a Camper Special, but a low GVWR would be a good indication that it was NOT a Camper Special.
