New member 1968 F100

Post by rfp23 »

Hello everyone!

Obviously, I am a new member and I actually just purchased my first F100 yesterday. A '68, SWB, Ranger with 360, 3 speed. White over Lunar Green. It needs work, but did make the 140 mile trip home without any problems. I am the third owner and the second owner had the truck since 1970, so it was maintained reasonably well. I saw the F100 in 2003 while riding one of my restored Kawasaki motorcycles and it took me this long to talk the owner into selling it.

Like most of you, my interest in cars/trucks/motorcycles goes back many years. My first restoration was a 1969 Boss 302 and I am currently restoring a 1974 Kawasaki Z1 which should be completed in the next month. Currently, I have a 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible, '67 Honda 305 Scrambler, '74 Honda 450 Scrambler, '72 Kawasaki H2, all restored.

The forum appears to be a great place to share technical information and I look forward to asking many questions in the future.

Welcome! Sounds like a good deal. Post up some pics when you get the chance.

There is a photo gallery option for the forums, or you can scroll all the way up to the top of the page, click on the Photo Gallery icon in the blue box...set up your gallery and post the link in your signature...that way we can see all the pics!

Again, Welcome!

Welcome from Florida! :fr:

You have an H2? Awesome!
I had one in the early 80s. It was scary fast!
An H2 engine on an H1 frame with a custom paint job and a set of Danco Killer exhaust tubes. (the kind with the big chambers and the little bitty peep hole tubes at the tips)
The problem back then was keeping the center cylinder cool and keeping enough high octane gas in it to make it run. But man did it run! Was hard to keep the front end on the ground even at highway speeds.
I have a couple of pix but their not scanned in right now.
Dont mean to hijack your thread but if you have a pic of your H2 Id love to see it.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I am confident this site will certainly encourage me to finish the '68. I actually worked on it a little today and ground the paint off the roof with a DA and removed the back glass. I'm going to repaint the top and just drive it for now. I'll post photos in a day or two.

For those intersted the old bikes, I started the 74 Kawasaki Z1 today. It had been sitting since 1979! It has taken a lot of time and $, but it will be really nice. Unfortunately, it has an oil leak at the base of #1 cylinder?!@#$

Yes, '72 H2, aka widow maker. Nothing I have ever ridden gives the thrill of speed quite like a H2.
