brake shoe help front brakes!

A simple job has taken me 3 hours on just one side i aint done these in three years and i don't have the little retainer spring tool so i'm doing them with needlenose pliers what do i do? Rope is very short and nerves are fraying over this not to mention the tendonidess.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

Run down to the parts store and spend $5.00 on a retainer tool.

Yup what i calmed down and tried to do but thanks to vcongress and the aerliness of this years DST they have already closed.

so i wnet to wally and got a pair of 5" Vice Grips for 2.15. Thanks flyboy. Sorry if i sounded a little too upset about this. Buit this time instead of throwing anything i actualy walked away :lol:

all i ever use when doing brakes is a screwdriver and a pair of channel locks. thats all i have ever needed. needle nose just wont do the same job.

sounds like a shot of booze will ease your nerves down:lol:

and if not when your real ticked you got super human strength that really helps. :lol:

But seriously, slide the shoe in to the outer ring(the outer dented part on the back plate) this way you can put the retain springs on by hand/ fingers. then lift the shoe out of the grove, :thup:

just remember to but a little anti size or cyliglide on the back plates shoe rests, to stop and shoe engagement noise or binding.

Channel locks works for me.

I always used vice grips.

Little bit of cussin but mostly vice grips.

Don't laugh but... I just did the passenger side in like 5 minutes no problems :lol: Turns out i transversed the Bottom Spring for the auto adjuster and the top rear spring (they look realy close) On the driverside :lol: Probably a 5-10 minute fix tommorrow.
