69 power steering

Post by my6970 »

Hopefully you guys can answer my question. Carquest is our(TX) local parts house. They can order a power steering box for my 69 f100. They have two in stock, one with a "bendix" gear and one with a "ford" gear. The bendix gear cost almost $700 the ford gear is $250. Is the ford gear the same as the saginaw box? The part # is 27-7504 made by Cardone. Thanks for the help.

Bendix is the direct bolt on. Saginaw is better and recommended, though
harder to install well worth it from what I've heard.

From what I've dug up online in searches, I know that Cardone is an aftermarket company that rebuilds many automotive parts for parts stores -- including saginaw steering boxes.

Beyond that, I can't tell you if that part # is the right one or not, or whether that's all you would need.

Thanks for everyone's input. I need to know if the Cardone part # 27-7504 is a saginaw box?

Check out this site... http://www.autopartsgiant.com/

Good for parts # lookup, and prices don't seem bad either. They have a 110% price guarantee, and shipping is free over $50. They also have a 30-day full $$ back return policy if you don't muck up the part.

Here's a pic of Cardone part #27-7504 -- maybe someone here can identify it:
