Do it yourself lift kit?

Post by cghstrojan08 »

Is there anyway I can lift my truck on my own? I have a 1969 f100. Lifting the back would be easy. Just add spacers on the leaf springs. How would I lift the front? Could I put a bigger spring in or put like a spacer in the top of the spring or I don't know. I don't want to but those kits for a couple thousand dollars. I am 17 and don't have the money but I would love to lift it. Also, can't really do any welding. Thanks!

A body lift is your only feasible solution.
Around $100

Heck just throw 33" tires front and rear, grab the sawz-all and cut out anything that hits!

I returned your PM, but the kit I made all involves welding. autofab.com is another solution... expensive but not thousands.

This is gonna sound pretty Mickey Mouse, but it works! Cheapest bodylift around is hockeypucks (how can you tell I'm fom Canada?) Pick up a dozen good ones from Walmart or similar, the sporting goods stores are usually more expensive. Get the hard rubber ones, not the sponge kind.

Drill 1/2" holes in them, maybe a handful of longer bolts and you are in business. Remember to watch lines, linkages, steering column and the fan shroud. Stack them for whatever height is req'd. You dont need a lot. It's suprising what an inch will look like.

I've seen them last for 19 years and still going.
Made my first million.....too bad it was mistakes..not dollars! Now pass me that crescent hammer.

another idea along those lines, is to use polyurethane boat trailer rollers. supposed to work pretty good.
