Auto trans type

I have a 69 F-250 with a 360. How can I tell which auto trans that I have? Is there a code or tag on the trans?

look at the shape of the pan if its is square its a c4 if its got a bump to one side its a c6.

'Cruise-o-matic' is the term designating a family of transmissions, which basically includes all transmissions from this generation: the C4, C6 and FMX (plus a couple others that were never installed in our trucks). More than likely you've got an FMX if it's original, but if it was ever replaced it's very possible it was replaced with a C6.
